TRANSMIXR

Ignite the Immersive Media Sector by Enabling New Narrative Visions with TRANSMIXR

The TRANSMIXR project has been funded by the European Union as part of the Horizon Europe Framework Program (HORIZON). TRANSMIXR pioneers a new era in media consumption and creation. By integrating AI and XR technologies, it aims to revolutionize media production and consumption. Its mission is to enhance the democratic mission and competitiveness of the European Cultural and Creative Sector (CCS).
The project tackles four key challenges:
1) Redefining existing workflows to meet CCS requirements and foster innovation, enabling them to create novel immersive media experiences.
2) Understand and process diverse media content at scale, to provide the right modular tools for helping content creators to handle the increasing volume and diversity of media content.
3) Creating collaborative XR environments for professionals to collaborate remotely.
4) Deploying environments for consuming and adapting Social XR narratives.
Three CCS domains are considered: News Media & Broadcasting, Performing Arts, and Cultural Heritage.

At HSLU, we are active in the following areas:

AI-Based Content Creation Workflows

We have developed a novel VR experience about the Planica ski jumping event of 2024. The experience contains real places and buildings captured by drone and smartphone and reconstructed in 3D.

XR Formats and Standards

We are evaluating and developing XR formats and standards. In particular, we have developed the VVglTF extension for volumetric video of the glTF file format.
