Focal Theme Housing and Sustainability
This theme is all about realising sustainable housing by introducing innovative forms of housing and by analysing requirements and trends, developing cutting-edge strategies and providing guidance for public and private decision-makers. Projects developed in the framework of this focal theme include “Socially Sustainable High-Rise Apartment Building” and “Small-Scale Housing”.
“After decades of the real estate industry’s almost exclusive focus on financial sustainability, environmental and social sustainability have become much more important in recent years. With its interdisciplinary, holistic approach, the IC Spatial Development and Social Cohesion is helping to give the discussion a solid foundation, notably through research into new forms of housing and into the effects of the built environment on social sustainability.”
