Spacebooks

«Basic Lectures» is a course in the Master’s program by module leader Alberto Alessi. The aim of the course is to foster the students’ understanding that architecture always results from a complex exchange between thoughts, possibilities, personal aims, collective meanings and physical decisions.

The course encourages students to actively investigate the specific richness of different situations, positions and tools as necessary components for a conscious architectural attitude.

In the autumn semester 2021 the students analysed different books on architecture and in a second step compared two books with regard to their relative analogies and/or differences in dimensions, layout, content, aims, public, influences, references, impact, etc. The students were asked to pay particular attention to the design/layout of their presentation.

The students Raphael Arnold, Florian Oertli, Nils Oppliger and Martin Vilhelmsson chose Bruno Taut’s «Ein Wohnhaus» and Le Corbusier’s «Une petite maison».

The whole presentation can be downloaded here.
