Re-build common Spaces!
Summer School Ticino is an annual workshop in the late summer that brings together students from multiple disciplines. The 7th Summer School Ticino willtake place in the Blenio Valley – the valley of the sun – a place that has great architectural fabric and naturalistic charm, but that in recent times has had difficulties related to depopulation, a common problem many mountain regions are struggling with. By realising and analysing the problem, our goal is to develop projects in different locations to reactivate the common spaces for the local people and tourists. We want to work with the people, with the existing material and with the landscape, to understand and integrate the many facets and realities of spatial development into a comprehensive and coherent approach. The sites work on different scales and each of them follow a different time-line of realization. Planning a sustainable regional development for this area must take into account a variety of facets. An integrative and therefore interdisciplinary approach is needed to address not only architectural, but also social and economic aspects.
Participants: Bachelor and Master students
Language: English (Italian language skills are an advantage)
Fee: approx. CHF 480.- (incl. lectures, workshop, accomodation, one-day excursion, cooking ingredients)
