Analysis and Improvement of Customer Project Estimation Process of Aerolite AG
Estimation of project cost is one the most crucial parts to identify the feasibility of a project. Project costs include the resources used, effort involved, time period for execution among other things. An accurate estimate not only gives a good overview of the budget of the project but also helps to generate profit.
This research project analyses the customer project estimation process within the engineering division of Aerolite AG. The aim of the analysis is to identify gaps in the current estimation process of Aerolite and put forward recommendations for improvement.
Analysis of the customer project estimation process within the engineering division of Aerolite primarily revealed the importance of project review and lessons-learned meetings after a project is completed among many others. It also helped to identify some gaps within the order winning process of Aerolite.
To get a deeper knowledge in the different methods used for estimation process, a literature review was conducted. This helped to understand where to use the different estimating methods. To investigate best practices, companies that offer customer-specific engineered products and services were analyzed through benchmarking.
Recommendations put forward at the end of this research project are based on literature review and benchmarking analysis that was conducted during this research project. The recommendations are ordered in terms of priority, and categorized based on ease of implementation and pay-back time.
