In Spring 2021, the students of the Master’s Program «Architecture & Structure» designed a public space for the «Molino Nuovo» neighbourhood in Lugano. They designed a building and a free space, with the two things closely related.

A neighbourhood centre with a piazza is intended to improve the identity of the Molino Nuovo neighbourhood, to give it a face and a public sphere. The urban space is largely defined beyond its margins. The space, however, lacked public use, centrality and an attractive design that would make it a focus of the social life and urban space of the neighbourhood.
