This semester’s workshop series will be held in cooperation with the Competence Center Typology and Planning in Architecture (CCTP) and provide insight into their current issues and research topics. Understanding architectural research as a response to current and future societal challenges, the aim of the lecture cycle «Drivers of Change» is to show design options for resilient and sustainable living spaces from multidisciplinary perspectives. One focus of this will be buildings and neighborhoods that respond to changing requirements, have the potential to develop and, as an open system, offer quality life for future generations. Each of the five workshops will furthermore address the themes incisive global «drivers of change», such as climate change, migration, social inequality, artificial intelligence and mobility. All these driving forces have an inescapable impact on our living space and thus on architectural and urban planning. In addition to experts who are invited from the various fields, additional knowledge is acquired in discussions and research in the plenary.
As a result, five written manifestos will be created in group works, which will be discussed at the end of the semester on the stage of a fictive HSLU – Institute of Architecture – World Congress.
