Ausgehend von einer umfassenden Analyse entwickelten sie Fragestellungen, die sich aus dem spezifischen Kontext ergeben und untersuchten die Transformationspotenziale dieser Geb\u00e4ude im Hinblick auf eine Umnutzung zu Wohnraum. Dabei analysierten sie konstruktive Voraussetzungen, erforschten bestehende Raumqualit\u00e4ten und entwickelten Entwurfsstrategien fu\u0308r die Umnutzung. Die St. Maria Kirche wird zu einem hybriden Ort aus Theater, \u00d6ffentlichkeit und Wohnen transformiert. Die grossz\u00fcgigen Raumh\u00f6hen der Basilika werden dabei nicht horizontal geteilt, sondern als zusammenh\u00e4ngende r\u00e4umliche Qualit\u00e4t erhalten und f\u00fcr ein alternatives, frei bespielbares Theater genutzt. Der Sakralraum wird als offener Kulturraum neu interpretiert. Eine flexibel nutzbare B\u00fchne erm\u00f6glicht unterschiedliche Formate von Theater bis Performance. Der Chor wird als \u00f6ffentliche Bar aktiviert und bildet zusammen mit dem Theater eine durchgehende \u00f6ffentliche Nutzung, die den Franziskanerplatz r\u00e4umlich in das Geb\u00e4ude hineinzieht Basilika entstehen Wohnungen als eigenst\u00e4ndige Schicht. Die besondere Wohnform ergibt sich aus der vertikalen \u00dcberlagerung von Alltag und Kultur, w\u00e4hrend der sakrale Raum in seiner vollen H\u00f6he erlebbar bleibt. Die Erschliessung erfolgt \u00fcber einen inneren Laubengang oberhalb des n\u00f6rdlichen Seitenschiffs, der als belebte Quartierstrasse mit Aufenthaltsm\u00f6glichkeiten gedacht ist. Die Wohnungen sind als Zweisp\u00e4nner organisiert und folgen mit schottenartigen W\u00e4nden dem Rhythmus der Basilikab\u00f6gen. Wohn- und Schlafzonen liegen jeweils auf gegen\u00fcberliegenden Seiten der Schotten, alle Zimmer sind gleich gross. K\u00fcche, Bad und Treppe sind in einer kompakten Servicezone geb\u00fcndelt, die Wohnungen sind als Maisonettes ausgebildet und reichen eine Ebene tiefer in das s\u00fcdliche Seitenschiff. Das Dach wird neu gestaltet und als leichte Holzbaukonstruktion ausgef\u00fchrt. Die zeitgen\u00f6ssische Form setzt sich bewusst vom historischen Bestand ab, respektiert jedoch dessen Proportionen und Volumetrie. Im Inneren reagiert die Materialit\u00e4t des Leichtbaus mit Terrazzob\u00f6den und Lehmputzw\u00e4nden auf den massiven Bestand und verleiht den Wohnr\u00e4umen eine ruhige, angemessene Schwere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Die gemeinschaftliche Dachterrasse bildet den Abschluss des Wohnens und dient als Aufenthalts- und Aussichtsort. Sie st\u00e4rkt die soziale Interaktion der Bewohnenden und erg\u00e4nzt das Projekt um einen gemeinschaftlich genutzten, produktiven Freiraum.\u00bb<\/p>\n\n\n<div\n   class=\"cloudimage-360\"\n
