After examining the long standing historic and contemporary cooperative housing in Switzerland, the students in the \u00abIn-depth study\u00bb module looked towards Barcelona at the architectural debate and examined what it means to live in one of the densest cities in Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the Spring Semester 2024, the following four specialists held lectures in the in-depth study module:\u00a0Prof<\/strong>.\u00a0Joaquin Sabat\u00e9,<\/strong> professor at ETSAN, on the uban history of Barcelona,\u00a0Rafael Diez<\/strong>, architect and associate professor at UPC, on his research and publications on Josep Antoni Coderch, Carles Baiges<\/strong> from Lacol<\/strong> architecture collective and Miquel del Rio <\/strong>from Mideri <\/strong>in Basel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The study trip took the group to Barcelona, where\u00a0they\u00a0spent 5 full days visiting important housing projects and exploring the urban fabric of the city. Starting from the earlier examples throughout the historic town and Barceloneta,\u00a0with\u00a0a\u00a0highlight of two exceptional housing projects from Josep Antoni Coderch<\/strong>. Understanding\u00a0and exploring\u00a0the Cerd\u00e1 plan<\/strong>\u00a0while\u00a0examining the success of the new \u201csuper-block\u201d urban interventions, in addition\u00a0to\u00a0visiting\u00a0contemporary examples of cooperative housing by Lacol architects<\/strong>. Together they also visited a recently completed project from H Arquitectes<\/strong> in addition to classics such as\u00a0Casa Mil\u00e1<\/em>\u00a0by Antoni Gaud\u00ed<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Casa Block<\/em>\u00a0by Luis Sert<\/strong>. A very special moment for many, was visiting the radical architecture of Ricardo Bofill<\/strong> with special access inside\u00a0La F\u00e1brica<\/em>\u00a0and the\u00a0Walden 7\u00a0.\u00a0<\/em>The combination and reflection on a range of experiences throughout the week, offered much debate and conversation throughout the semester and resulted in many fruitful and critical works\u00a0on examining how\u00a0Barcelona\u00a0has dealt\u00a0and changed\u00a0with\u00a0living in the city over the course of time and towards the future.<\/p>\n\n\n Erster Halt auf dem Dach des COAC<\/p>\n <\/div>\n\n Study trip<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
